Literacy Specialists

The Literacy Specialist's Role:

-Assist with implementing the reading/language arts program
-Diagnose and implement the dyslexia program
-Model lessons in reading/writing and conference with teachers about effective strategies for classroom instruction
-Facilitate implementation of new materials, philosophies, and innovations
-Provide small group or one-on-one instruction to students identified with literacy needs
-Conduct formal and informal professional development programs for the reading/writing program
-Maintain and promote use of the Literacy Library
-Attend CARE meetings to assist in diagnosing reading difficulties and developing a literacy plan for qualifying students.
